Our Story

Home > Our Story

SavvyFlyer began with a question every Australian traveller has muttered at their laptop at 11pm: is this actually a good price — or am I about to overpay? You find a fare to Bali, one voice says "wait, it might drop," another says "book now before it goes up," and you have no real way to know which voice is right. We built SavvyFlyer to answer that question with data instead of a guess.

The problem: you're bidding blind

Airlines and the big booking sites sit on enormous amounts of pricing data. They know what a Sydney–Tokyo fare usually costs, how it moves as the date gets closer, and when a "sale" is actually a sale. You don't. So you're left to guess — and a fare dressed up with a countdown timer and "only 2 seats left!" feels urgent whether or not it's genuinely cheap. The deck is stacked, and it's stacked against the traveller.

What we did about it

Every morning we track live return fares from Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Perth and Adelaide to eight of Australia's favourite Asian destinations — Bali, Japan, Thailand, Vietnam, Singapore, South Korea, the Philippines and Malaysia. Then we score each fare against that route's own price history and boil it down to a single number: the Savvy Score, from 0 to 100. A high score means today's fare is genuinely cheap for that route; a low score means it's overpriced. Book now, keep watching, or wait — one straight answer, updated daily. Here's exactly how the Savvy Score works.

Since we started tracking in April 2026, we’ve logged well over 130,000 fares across 40 routes — and the number grows every day.

What SavvyFlyer is not

We don't sell flights. We're not a booking site, and we're not an airline. We don't make a cent from you booking a bad fare — in fact, we'll happily tell you to wait, or to skip a fare entirely. That's the whole point: advice you can trust precisely because we're not trying to rush you into a sale.

What we stand for

Honesty over hype. If today's fare is a rip-off, we say so. A "Skip" is as useful as a "Book Now."

Independence. The Savvy Score is calculated from fare data alone. We may earn a commission if you book through a partner link, but that never touches the score — a genuinely cheap fare scores high whether or not we earn a thing.

Built for Australians. Every route we track starts in an Australian city, the prices are in Australian dollars, and the peak weeks are the Australian school holidays. This is timing intelligence for the way Australians actually travel.

Data, not opinions. We don't guess when to book — we show you what fares have actually done, and we're upfront about what our data can and can't yet tell you.

Where we're headed

Right now, SavvyFlyer tells you when to book. The bigger idea is to hand travellers the kind of pricing intelligence that has always lived on the airline's side of the table — and, in time, to do the watching, comparing and timing for you, so a great fare finds you instead of the other way around. We're an independent Australian business building that, one honest number at a time.

The short version

SavvyFlyer is an independent Australian service that tracks flights to Asia every day and tells you, in one number, whether today's fare is worth booking. No hype, no fake sales — just the data the airlines would rather you didn't have. Check today's Savvy Score for your route: savvyflyer.com.au
